Two voices and a guitar, intricate harmonies with a little cheerleading thrown in, singing love songs for grown ups. They've been touring together for two years, and have just finished their second CD. Both Tom and Cary are Kerrville New Folk Competition Winners-accomplished songwriters in their own right. They draw on their experience in classical violin, musical theater, raising kids,and living in the third world to create songs which navigate the territory between Everything ButThe Girl and Leonard Cohen, Lucy Kaplansky and Krishna Das. Java Notes ~ Concerts For A Better Community

Java Notes will present a series of coffeehouse concerts, these evenings will be designed to raise funds for local non-profit organizations. The first season will run from January to November of 2008, excluding June, July and August, on the second Saturday of the month. Each evening will feature a different folk music performer, equal exchange (fair trade) coffee and hot chocolate, and desserts. A share of the proceeds from admissions and refreshments will go to the partner organization of the evening.>

Java Notes has selected 4 non-profit organizations to serve as partner organizations for the first season:>

1. The Boys and Girls Club of Dane County provides low-income children with the tools they need to succeed in life.>

2. Habitat for Humanity is an international organization which enlists community support to help low income families build their own homes.>

3. Luke House of Madison is a community meal ministry that feeds approximately fifty homeless persons each evening. Although it is currently on hiatus from providing a monthly meal, SPUMC has had a longstanding relationship with Luke House and fully supports its ministry.>

4. The Wisconsin AIDS Network provides AIDS prevention education and services and case management.
